Failure To Launch:
Keep hope alive? Nope, it's over. I held on to the belief that the Rockets would turn it around longer than most people I talk to, but last night's embarrassing loss to New Orleans was the final nail. The Rockets were killed on the boards (57-40), shot 14-25 from the free throw line (56%), gave up points in the paint all night long, and weren't able to get any offense out of the post during the 2nd half becoming a jump-shooting team.
This 5-game losing streak has been nothing short of shocking. The only other collapse worse than this in Rockets history was when they went up 2-0 on the Dallas Mavericks during the first round of the 2005 playoffs with those two wins at Dallas; and still lost the series. They lost two home games, the series went 7 games, and they lost game 7 by 40 points in Dallas. It'll take a little while to fully diagnose how this collapse happened, but some big changes will have to be made to shake up this team. Maybe a trade for Dwight Howard?
