It's a bit of David vs. Goliath in this week's SportsTalk 790 Friday Night Football game of the week.

The Pearland Dawson Eagles travel to Etheredge Stadium to take on the La Marque Cougars. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Dawson (8-0 overall, 4-0 district) has nearly three times the enrollment as La Marque (7-2, 4-1). Add in the fact that La Marque has lost several key players to injury, and the odds are stacked against the Cougars.

Last year's matchup between these two teams was a thriller, with Dawson pulling out a 23-20 win. However, because of the difference in numbers, Dawson will be a huge favorite.

Despite being underdogs, La Marque could still present a challenge for the Eagles.

The Cougars have been lighting up scoreboards this season, putting up more than 30 points in all seven of their wins. Four times La Marque has gone over 60 points, including against defending district and Region III-4A Division I champion Friendswood.

The big question for La Marque will be the status of star running back Tim Wright after dislocating his shoulder last week.

Wright has rushed for 1,365 yards on 22 touchdowns, but may be held out of this contest in order to heal for another couple of weeks before the playoffs begin.

Meanwhile, Dawson is looking for an undefeated regular season with just two games to go. However, with a matchup against fellow undefeated Manvel next week, this could be a bit of a trap game for the Eagles.

Dawson has a balanced offensive attack, rushing for 2,038 yards and passing for 1,825. The Eagles have scored at least 34 points in all eight games.
