Dylan Gwinn is a native of Washington, D.C., which makes him uniquely qualified to comment on poor, and underperforming sports franchises. Dylan began pursuing a career in sports talk radio shortly after his wife informed him that he would never live his dream of being a GQ model and would best be served trying to make a living doing what he does best, talking.
Soon after coming to grips with this realization, Dylan began working as a mobile traffic reporter for KTRH radio. Though extremely grateful for his first real radio gig — cruising around Houston and trying to broadcast articulately at 70 mph — Dylan quickly learned that his odds of survival would greatly improve by trading in his SUV and two-way radio for a nice comfortable studio and microphone.
To this end, Dylan began doing play-by-play of Houston high school sports for the Texas Sports Radio Network, and hosted the Internet talk show "The Penalty Box" for Toginet.com. Dylan also served as the Big 12 and Conference USA West scout for Optimum Scouting, an organization that evaluates college talent for NFLHouse.com. In addition, Dylan completed the Scouting and General Manager course at Sports Management Worldwide, taught by former Cowboys executive John Wooten, and is finishing a Sports Management degree at the University of Houston.
Four years and much harassment later, the immensely wise and just powers that be at SportsTalk 790 saw fit to give Dylan a shot to co-host the "Monsters of the Midday" show. It only took 18 minutes for Dylan's first caller to announce that he would never listen to the station again ... because of Dylan! In any other profession, that would have been the end of him But talk radio being a business like no other, that opportunity to fill in led to Dylan getting the awesome responsibility to talk to the great sports fans of Houston every day of the week on "The Mighty Gwinn Show" 10-noon weekdays.
Dylan, his wife, Lara, and their newborn son Mitchell look forward to the challenge ... and to many more angry callers.
