Dr. Kenneth R. First is a graduate of Harvard College (79) and Harvard Medical School (83). He completed a five and a half year residency in orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School in 1988 and was the chief resident at the prestigious Massachusetts General Hospital. Upon completing his residency he did an extra year and a half of fellowship training in trauma, sports medicine, and knee surgery in Houston, Switzerland, and Baltimore.
     He has been in clinical practice in Houston since 1991 and now is the senior partner of the All American Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute. He serves as the Director of Sports Medicine for St. Johns Hospital in the Clear Lake area. Dr. First has spent 16 years as a team physician taking care of thousands of athletes in the Bay Area. Dr. First is board certified in orthopedic surgery and a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine.
     Dr. First is a passionate fan of all sports and was a three sport varsity athlete in high school. He was the captain of the Harvard Lacrosse team earning All American and All New England honors during his four letter years and played club lacrosse until the age of 35. He has coached youth basketball, baseball, ice hockey, and lacrosse. He rides his bike daily and loves the game of golf.
     Dr. First is married and lives in Clear Lake with his wife, Dr. Gina Rizzo, and their three children Joseph, Angela, and Jeffrey. He dreams of hosting a sports radio show when he retires from medicine.
     Growing up in a family of physicians was the biggest influence on his patient friendly style of medicine and he feels that his father's bedside manner was the key to his success in his practice.
