I've been on the air for Brad davies the past couple of days. I am a morning person-to a degree. I am not a 4:30 AM person! But- it's good to do the different shows once in a while.
Anyway-back to the normal routine Wednesday.
Random thoughts:
The Texans may consider re-structuring Ahman's Green's contract so that he is not guaranteed $3.8 million once he makes the roster September 7th. But-my guess is they will just let him make the team and take their chances with his health.
Nothing against Brandon Backe. He's a heck of a guy and always very cooperative with me. But- business is business. The Astros can't possibly offer him arbitration this off-season. Galveston guy or not. He's liable to get $1.5 million or so for a very un-productive season.
They will have to offer arbitration to Ty Wigginton. They have no other option at third base-unless they move Tejada to third. Then- they have no viable shortstop.
Besides all of this- priority #2 (after a starting pitcher) this off-season has to be a lead-off hitter.
That's all I have for now.

Items I will watch furing the Texans game tonight:
Is Matt Schaub making all the throws? Is he agile? How does LT Duane Brown hold up?
That's really about it. Few things more boring than an NFL pre-season game.
I will also catch as much Olympic stuff as I can. I always think that I will have limited interest-then I end up watching the women's swimming, some soccer, etc. The allure of the Olympics-to me- is the number of individual stories.
Not much to blog today. Will try it again Monday or Tuesday.

As I write this, I am waiting. To give you what a typical day for me is like- it's a lot of waiting.
I am waiting to hear from US men's Olympic Gymnastics Coach Kevin Mazeika to determine if Houstonian Raj Bhavsar will get the nod as the replacement for Paul Hamm who is out of the Olympic Games due to injury.
I am also wiating for the Astros clubhouse to open to check out the line-up and speak with players and Cecil Cooper about the reds game tonight.
I am also waiting to hear from anyone at the Texans' practice to make certainn there were no afternoon injuries at practice today.
And I am waiting to hear back from the Rockets about any possbile update regarding Carl Landry-who is still unsigned.
Glamorous stuff, huh?
Lots of phone calls and begging for call-backs.
Just giving you an idea about the job on a somewhat typical day.
FYI: The Astros are open to moving Miguel Tejada should they get enough back. problem: no one will offer enough back.
